Apple Pickin'

Two years ago, Labor Day 2008. I am STILL getting that look on a daily basis. Things don't change much, do they?

A friend and I took Noah apple picking this past Labor Day and it was by far one of the best days he and I have had together. He loved running up and down the rows of trees, picking out the best apples to put in the bag, and devouring freshly baked apple cider donuts (deep-fried heaven, seriously).

He insisted on pulling the wagon for about a foot until
he was realized the odds were against him.

His thought process: Wait. You mean I can actually
PULL IT OFF THE TREE and NOT GET IN TROUBLE? Awesome!

I love this one. Just LOVE it.

He pulled on this one for a good five minutes
before it gave in and popped off the tree.
I'm pretty sure he almost fell flat on his butt.

The apples were soon forgotten once
he spied this tractor. Boys and their toys.

This weekend it's pumpkin pickin' time. And my birthday. Just in case you forgot. I sure love fall!

Tell me: what are your favorite fall activities? Are you an apple and pumpkin pickin' fiend like myself or do you prefer your fall weekends full of football and perhaps a pie? Oooooh pie...

Without cool weather and changing leaves, I settle for football and making Christmas lists. Oh, and our annual pumpkin party, though the damn gourds cost a mint down here.

We love all of it - apple and pumpkin picking and football and pie! This weekend I am going to attempt to make pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.

I adore all things fall. My favorite is pumpkin picking, though, as I have to admit to being something of a pumpkin junkie. Fall just makes me happy!!

LOVE that first picture with baby Noah. SO cute!! The pic of him down the lane of apple trees is amazing!

I've never been apple picking but it looks like a lot of fun. Plus, apple cider donuts? Yes, please!

We don't have a ton of fall traditions, but we usually do go to a local farm to pick our own pumpkin. Last year we went camping (in a camper!) in the mountains in November and had a great time. We're thinking of making that a family tradition.

The thing I love about looking back at baby pictures is to see the things that never change. Noah's eyes, exactly the same!!!

When do I get to take you out for some birthday cheer????

Oooh, the apples! And the pumpkins! I'm with you - the fall is the perfect time to be outside. I don't want to be inside AT ALL this time of year because I know what Michigan has waiting for me...

And happy birthday a bit early!

LOVE these photos! We want to take Carter apple-picking - the only place you can do it in CA is a couple of hours south of us in San Diego county. There's a little town that's known for its apples. Carter is obsessed with apples - "apple" was one of his first words, in fact. = )
